Line Gøttsche returns with a new single "Stretching Eyes" released on 3rd December via Duchess Box Records.
"Stretching Eyes" is a return after an 8 year gap since Line's critically acclaimed debut EP Omonia, released in 2016 which UK's Mojo Magazine described as "Melodies of oblique beguiling sorcery" and Germany's Die Zeit "her singing imitates the range of old vinyl recordings with inimitable intimacy".
Line took time out from muisc aftr the release of her EP to focus on studying for her Masters at CalArts in Los Angeles and and the University of Copenhagen but since returning to Berlin she has focusing and writing and recording new songs.
Influenced by a mid 20th century jazz and 1970s Brazilian pop, Line has created a sound reminiscent of artists such as Sade, Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell.
Speaking about "Stretching Eyes" Line tell us "When I wrote the song, I had recently uprooted my life in Copenhagen and relocated to Berlin. I was new in the city and striving to pay my bills by writing sales texts for online shopping pages. Yet, a strong urge to create was pulling from above. I was caught in an aching stretch between the obligation of tending to basic needs and my desire to let the existence of the above layers unfold".
Recorded with Haggai Cohen-Milo on double bass, Earl Harvin on the drums, and Guy Sternberg behind the mixing console, the song got the right grounded, warm, and earthy feeling, one that I find perfect for fall.
Line Gøttsche was born in Randers, Denmark. Line was born into a family of musicians and from the age of 8 years old she begun playing classical violin. Later studying to become a linguist and graduated with a masters thesis in Marcel Proust. Line was part of many musc projects including the drum & bass indie fusion project Belle Ville and lent her voice to other projects including collaborations with producers Borneland and Falcon Punch which the only three released tracks again more than 10 million streams on Spotify.
